I currently work as a freelance/contract artist/designer. Since I was very young I always loved drawing, painting and anything and everything about any kind of art. I have dabbled in many forms of art, drawing, painting, sculpting, photography and digital. I worked for about 15 years as a distribution manager for a wholesale magazine and book distributor. While working at the wholesaler I started working up advertisements and motivational design ads for the local newspapers and schools. In 1997 I decided to work full time at freelance and contract work. Doing this allowed me to explore different types of art and design. My artistic abilities were expanded and grew. I have always dabbled in some type of art from sculpture to photography. 1997 opened my mind up to the whole new world that is when we got the internet! I started doing more art and design on the computer. I went out and bought Adobe illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. I remember coming home (shocked at how much money the programs were) I quickly became overwhelmed! I tried to work the programs but became very frustrated. I put the programs away. Shopping around a store one day I found photoshop elements. I loved it and worked that little program to death; all the while the program was teaching me how to work the "real" photoshop. I fell in love with photography and ventured out more into the digital world. I started manipulating photos of dogs and cats. I used to raise and show English pointers, The goofy photos turned out quite cute. I started submitting to greeting card companies. Those goofy photos were named "Twisted Whiskers" I created the original Whiskers. My all time favorite card is the one of the English pointer pup smiling with human teeth, the inside says "Best in Show". He was my first show champion! The Whiskers I did all have the red leash on the back of the card (I used that as my signature). I don't create the whiskers anymore but wow I had a blast! I expanded my photography to doing ADS and display photos of fish and reptiles and other small animals for large pet store chain flyers and mail inserts and such. I have sold many photos to a variety of magazines. I have done concept art for a cartoon "The Fast and The Furriest" and created the concept art and idea for the stuffed animals "Little Peepers". I worked as a freelancer/contract freehand artist for www.furryfriendswebdesign.com for several years and do design work for screenprinting express on a regular basis.
